Did it drop from a plane!Or very very modified.

Me, well 270kph and still getting faster two up2000 Hayabusa (the one in profile shot, possably same day it was taken) just out of cromwell toward wanaka along the lake side.
And had a ride in a big block AC Cobra replica, no idea of how fast but he reckoned 170mph and having your arse that close to the ground it sure as shit felt like it lol.

According to the speedo in a one ton Holden tow truck with a 350 Chev which I was a passenger, along the old Oteha Valley Rd before it was sealed.200kph, I had no idea my mate was going to plant the welly like that.
I touched cloth and found Jesus.

smac, Nov 13, 5:19am
My Mini does that to ya'. 170ish feels like 250

electromic, Nov 13, 5:27am
220km/h, According to the bmw 850i driver just behind me, in an '88 supra on desert road. Thats 7500ish rpm in fith gear. Car sat on road perfectly well at that speed but it had some mods.

Bikes count!280kph on a ZZR1100 C3, tekapo, checked the road first and last looked at the speedo at 280, think it was a few kays higher before I decided my ring was puckering enough and throttled off, was still accelerating too.Ahhhh those were the bullet proof days.

Many many years ago I towed my mate home after his 125 Jawa ran out of gas on the southern motorway. Towed it with a 305ss Honda and 80mph was all it would do wide open.He reckoned the Jawa speedo was off the clock.
We are still good mates and both still bikies.

Romanian driver of old merc on Autobahn outside Munich, in sleeting rain:
"How fast have you been in a car!" <accelerates>
Me:
"About 320km/h" <lie>
Romanian driver of old merc:
"Aaahhh - oooo kay than" <takes foot off gas>

It was the correct answer.

240kph on GSXR1100 on southern motorway, on what I thought was a stretch of "straight" road, still accelerating before I realized it was not so straight!
Trying to lean bike over at 240 was difficult as I crossed three lanes before I started to scub off a bit of speed.

owene, Nov 13, 8:12am
178mph in an AC Cobra (that's 289kph I think).

rob_man, Nov 13, 8:15am
125 MPH in a Bathurst XU1 with the 2.7:1 diff ratio would probably be it. I was the passenger in a Plymouth GTX reading 100MPH through Morningside once in the rain on a Saturday morning.

240kph on a Honda Boldor, it wanted to go faster but I didn't (o:

lorollaz.inc, Nov 13, 8:42am

come into tip top corner straight off the clock, cop half way down the straight had already pulled some one over,we hit the pix for a second, banged 4th and kept going, glad to say,he didnt end up catching up with us.
a few years ago now when the south auckland illegals were all go,night before the 4 n rotor drags kicked off.

160k's down the back straight at Pukekohe in my 4efe powered starlet.
The things only got a 4 speed manual but its geared for 200 in 4th

Most frightening, about 55mph in a 1929 Erskine, bought for 15 pounds, down The Dip (anybody know that stretch on the motorway north of dunedin!) to see what it would do; it threw a piston or 2through the block, we pushed it off the road & down the bank, if you want it, it is probably still there 50 yrs later.

ralphdog1, Nov 13, 9:44am
Most frightening for me, passenger in an FJ55 Landcrusier (LWB, mid 70's) with a shagged steering box going down the long straight into Cass heading for Arthurs Pass in the wet @ about 85MPH
Fastest, somewhere around 230k 1981 CB1100R

morrisman1, Nov 13, 9:47am
122km/h in a bog standard morry minor on a slight uphill. Felt like I was doing mach 1 !

Im almost too scared to max out that mazda 121 that Ive built, not until it is well sorted in the roadholding area! Will be testing on Teretonga at some stage and suspect that we could be hitting upwards of 200 km/h on the main straight

owene, Nov 13, 9:59am
Well scariest (not fastest) was in my father's '54 Vauxhall Velox driving down the Brydon Hill. Had a camera (Agfa ISO-Matic $7.80 how could I forget that bloody thing) and decided to take a piccie of the spedo to prove that I'd had it up to 80mph. The flash went off as did my vision. If you've ever tried steering a car at 80mph down a hill with your eyes completely dead, you'd appreciate why I became deeply religious for a few minutes.

jmma, Nov 13, 10:08am
Did you really go that fast in MY car son (o:

lisah8, Nov 13, 5:27pm
Which V8 supercar was @ Pukekohe on Saturday!

rustihammer, Nov 13, 5:53pm
122 in a morry! Yikes. mine felt scary approaching 90.

trogedon, Nov 13, 7:08pm
Fastest - not shortest (or maybe in your case longest) time!

trogedon, Nov 13, 7:16pm
90kph down Three Mile Hill on my bicycle - full tuck and lycra clad. I've only ever reached max 74kph in Auckland down Tunnel Hill and Palimino Drive with a following wind.

tuttyclan, Nov 13, 7:25pm
70 MPH (120 KM/H) around Pukekohe Race Track in my 1960 Vauxhall Victor lol.
1500 cc and 37 kw of raw power with 3 speed column change manual with 4 wheel non power assisted drum brakes lol.
On the same day I was passenger in a police car doing 180 KM/H down the back straight.

owene, Nov 13, 7:42pm
Yes dad and if I could have the dozen of DB Green I left under the rear seat I'd be very happy.

inkapuka, Nov 13, 8:01pm
168 inmy 98 toyota corolla spacio nana wagon nealy lifted of at the top of the hill lol wasn't a pleasnt speed for a aerodynamicbox 1600cc auto
