had a second hand garrett gt3540 and it blew on monday, we thought it coulda just been on its way out caus we didnt really know previous history, and been on for half a year or so on this car doing drifting events and working fine, so we got a new one on wed and fitted it, done less thans a hours running and its seized on us, before we started it we cranked the engine over and had good amouts of oil flowing, left it idling before boosting to let oil flow through, its been properly tuned and checked the plugs and its hasnt been running lean.any ideas!

Proper pressure to the oil feed is required, a freely draining oil drain and hooking the turbo oil feel and drain up the right way helps as well as the correct clocking of the turbo.

Running lean has zero to do with the turbo seizing. It's probably caused by incorrect oil feed or drain (as has been noted).

problems are no1 incorrect oil-lubrication-pressure- no2 forgein objects and no3 wear and blockage due to turning it off when redhot baking the oil solide in the charger -

is the GT3540 a ball bearing turbo! If not then using a BB oil feed banjo will restrict the oil too much and seize it.

yeah was a ball bearing, someone said should be rinning a restrictor in oil line but i didnt put it in

might have blown a seal out and jammed the shaft!
