On line rego - not quite.

socram, Jan 17, 4:56pm
I usually do my on line rego for 12 months with no problems.Easy.

However, if you want to do the rego for 4 months or anything other than 3/6/9/12, you can't! They won't do it over the 'phone either, so you have to do the usual queue at the Post Office or VTNZ.

A bit dumb in this computer age don't you think!

I dont put much faith in online NZTA stuff after having a few change of ownerships not updated & RUC's incorrect & huge debates with them about the above

online is brilliant, I do all my vehicles rego and RUC online. No more queuing at the Post office for me.
cheers stevo

Well thats because its a different form isnt it! The online form is probably just an online version of MR1 (i think thats it) - they simply dont have an online version of MR27.

I already do just about everything else on line, rego on hold, RUC etc. They already have 4 option so it's only adding another 6, for 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11 months.Would probably take the average website designer about 20 minutes tops for each class of vehicle.

IRD/GST site seems to work very well though, but totally agree about the Companies site.

Wow really! I think the companies site search is fantastic. It's very different looking to when I saw it, but the guts of it is the same.

Socram it's not that easy - as above it's the fact that the MR27 transaction isn't there. It's not just a case of adding options to the existing MR1. You'd be frightened and/or amazed to know how prehistoric the back end of what you see there is. The cost and complexity isn't the website (as you say, that's easy), it's the dark magic in between the website and what it's talking to.

Yep, also good. I guess I was really talking about how the search works, rather than which searches are available. I see your point about not being able to use the results as a new search parameter. Maybe not many of those searches are done, or maybe they just forgot, or maybe they've been boned by the govt's funding stance like most of the public sector ;)
