Electric window only going up half-way!

Hi all, have a 91 Camry and the drivers side window will only go up half way. My guess is this is something electrical. Any ideas on how to diagnose what is causing the problem! thx

Does the window move slowly and can you assist the window (pull it up while operating switch)!
Usually a worn out or dirty motor.
The best way to be sure is pull off the door trim and have a look at the regulator first.

Thanks richard, the window goes up unassisted at the normal speed but just stops suddenly when it reaches halfway. We can't pull it up any further.

Thought there may be something obstructing the window but pulled the trim off and it looks fine. We did notice the wire cable was frayed, would that cause the issue!

Will have a look at the regulator.

Yup. That frayed cable is part of the regulator so it won't pass through the mechanism.
Same happened to a rear window in my Caldina.
Short on dollars so I pulled out the cable and bolted the window shut!
Since yours is the drivers window, you might be in for a new regulator!

Lol, that is tempting!

I think we might visit pick a part and see if we can find a replacement. I'm guessing this would be the cheapest way to go!

Yup, was the cable.

Got a new one from pick a part, installed it and good to go :)

That was quick!
