I fitted a dsr set up a few weeks ago for my cousin, he is pretty much doing the same as me, but on the cheap side.

in the kit was turbo, v clamp down pipe (bolts to factory exhaust), v clamp, alloy inlet pipe, set of required silicone pipes and clamps, oil line, 3x oil line banjo bolts each with diff size restrictor. Not in the dsr set up is a pipe to go from the 90deg silicone elbow on the turbo to the 1st pipe that goes to the intercooler. They also supplied the wrong size v clamp (v clamp from turbo to dsr downpipe) so we had spend $30 and get another one. The kit came with a oil feed that was JUST long enough. Factory water lines and oil drain were used.

It does pull a lot harder now (on 10psi) than it did before. Done just before the turbo was the exhaust and intercooler, the intercooler made the most diff in my opinion.

Just to put it in perspective I will list the parts and values(lol not what I payed) for my RB30DET setup that I intend to make 300rwkw on 14psi with: Complete fresh built standard internal RB30DET(R33 RB25DE head R31 RB30E block)-$4000, custom RIPS style plenum with 76mm throttle body-$900, 550cc FD3S RX7 injectors with custom collars in a modified fuel rail to suit duel return & a/n fittings-$500, standard turbo manifold with a laser cut spacer-$100, turbo(Masterpower T61)-$1200, Tial 44mm external wastegate $590, GReddy/Trust type R BOV-$450, 600x300x100 FMIC-$290, 60mm core R33 alloy race radiator $340, flywheel & 5puk JKK race clutch plate & H/D pressure plate-$650, Sard fuel pressure regulator $250, Bosch 044 fuelpump & 3L surge tank & all fittings-$800, Link G4 Storm wire in ECU-$1800, custom return type oil catch can-$350, 6x external Nissan coils & new silicon 9mm leads-$300 and then all the piping, fittings, lines, bolts and clamps and you are easyly over $14000 which is scary to realise what I have spent even though its quite alot less thanks to hookups/mates than fabricate or sell parts

So in your opinion was it worth doing the turbo upgrade or not.

for my cousin, yes becuase he is not too concerned on quality. the yes by him is only after also doing the exhaust, filter and intercooler. Only time will tell how long it lasts though. From mem he has spent $1000 on the turbo kit, $400 on the intercooler, and $400 on exhaust. there is your 2k used up. I myself would still not have bought the kit, but my cousin wanted it NOW lol. rem that you will get $300 to $350 back on your standard turbo.
