Deregistering a car with personalised plates!

I know with normal plates you must surrender them but what bout PP, do they just de reg the car and let you keep plates to put on another!

It would be ok if you were deregistering car A and transferring the PP to another car all at the same time, but it is my understanding that you are not permitted to have a set of plates for which there is not a vechicle for. i.e. degisterer car A and then hold onto the PP until you get another car to put them on. they have to be handed in for safe keeping untill car B is registered !

#4 In theory that may have been the case initially - probably even the law - but it seems to have slipped since PP were first on the market.

I have two sets not now on cars. I think they realised that safe storage was a complex issue and just let it slide.If you don't hand them in, you certainly won't hear from them, as I have one set that hasn't been used for several years.They are your plates, unlike the general issue plates; they belong to the authorities.
