Does anybody know what type of engine mounts you need to fit a 302 cleveland into an XY falcon! Are there factory ones or do they have to be scratch built!Cheers

rob_man, Feb 7, 8:26am
Eeeeeeewwww. why would you! Should be a Windsor.

quickstitch, Feb 7, 8:30am
a 351 clevelandis twice as good as a windsor. you will need the factory V8 pedistals that bolt to the crossmember. Trans crossmembers are the same, 6 cyl and V8. if you can find a factory V8 accelerator linkage then that will help otherwise you can fabricate something to work.

In answer to your question though, 351 Cleveland mounts should do the trick.

quickstitch, Feb 7, 8:31am
the same reason ford did it, for a better motor and the worlds fastest four door sedan.

rob_man, Feb 7, 8:32am
A 351 maybe, 302.not.

quickstitch, Feb 7, 8:33am
i would take a 302 c over a 302 w any day too. windsors are gutless and weak.

rob_man, Feb 7, 8:33am
Never seen an XY with a 302C yet. Good thing too, they'd be a slow old stinker like the XA 302.

rob_man, Feb 7, 8:34am
Idiot.

quickstitch, Feb 7, 8:34am
and before you start on about the 289, they are ony half decent if they are a Hi-po 271hp 4V motor.

quickstitch, Feb 7, 8:35am
mate, i've owned more ford V8s than you could imagine, im speaking from experience. have you ever owned a cleveland or windsor !

edangus, Feb 7, 8:36am
Mean Guy. Geez

quickstitch, Feb 7, 8:37am
i've owned a factory 302c Xy, bloody good car. ownded about 10 windsor powered falcons, 2 windsor powered cortinas. they aren't all that.

rob_man, Feb 7, 8:40am
Yes, I've always preferred Ford motors to Chevs except for reliability issues. Nothing wrong with American Clevelands but that Aussie 302C was a crime against humanity.

cujo38, Feb 7, 8:40am
So we need 351 C engine mounts & pedistals instead ofthe original 302 C ones!Is that correct!Thank you for your input.

rob_man, Feb 7, 8:41am
"i've owned a factory 302c Xy"
Okay. affirmed now.

quickstitch, Feb 7, 8:43am
they were the change over model, i know they changed over in the XW for the gt-ho but the base model change over was the XY, IDIOT. whjat do you think the XY GS had in them 302 clevelands.

quickstitch, Feb 7, 8:44am
i was a ford wrecker for many years, specialised in V8s (falcon fairlanes Fairmonts). As i asked before, have you ever owned a Ford V8 !

1fordluva, Feb 7, 8:52am
Dont agree there quickstich,I have owned a few over the years ,they both go ok but those clevo,s and the crappy oiling system farkkkkk!
Windsors are the reliable ones.
Although a dirty old clevo won the world engine building challenge last year,we are a few years better off with technology now lol.

hey rob, just thought about it, i put the 302c into my xy gs, it was a windsor powered one. my 351 xy gs was a cleveland.

cujo38, Feb 7, 8:54am
Not sure If you mean me, but yes we have had a 1998 v8 falcon and we have got a couple of old ford projects on the go.A 1938 Barrel Nose with a windsor in and this XY at this stage.

rob_man, Feb 7, 8:55am
Of course I have, I also did restorations on all those XYs, Fairmonts, GS, GTs GTHOs. The XY Fairmont never had a 302C, they were a Windsor. 351C in the GTs for sure, I think you're getting confused by the changeover from Windsor to Cleveland in the XY GTs with 351.

the_chooky, Feb 7, 8:56am
I had two 4 cylinder Mitsa's. Is that the same as a V8.

quickstitch, Feb 7, 8:56am
i have never had trouble with my clevelands i have pulled rocker studs on windsors, and various other troubles too. as for the cleveland oiling system problems, they have never caused issues for me. most my motor i put in a high volume pump and a large sump. never used a restrictor kit.

quickstitch, Feb 7, 8:58am
rob man, they changed over in the phase II, an XW
