The cork gasket on my gear box sump is stuffed.Should I leave it out in favour of red hi-temp rtv!

You can buy a piece of cork sheet big enough and cut your own new gasket, although an off the shelf one probably wont be very much $$.That red high temp gasket goo is bloody good though.

If you use the rtv, be careful not to put too much on as it can ooze inwards, set then fall off in a lump and clog things like oil passages etc. You dont want that.
