Timing belt Subaru Legacy Lancaster

Hi, I've recently bought a 2000 Subaru legacy lancaster. The timing belt was done at 95,000 Km, but now its at 175,000 - is it time for a new belt! How much should I be looking to pay! (Anyone know a good mechanic in Auckland.!)
Also the previous owner said the car takes 91 petrol. That doesn't seem right!
If I put in some 95 am I going to screw up anything!
Can anyone shed some light on this for me, thanks.

Subaru recommend changing the timing belt (cambelt) as well as the tensioners and idlers every 100,000kms.Your one had them done just before the 100,000kms mark so should be good until about 195,000kms.

I'd recommend using 95 gas, the car would almost definately be designed to run on that, it won't do it any harm at all, if anything using lower octane fuel will harm the engine by causing engine knock.

The cost for a cambelt job can get up around $1,000.
