Hi, have a 1999 Mitsi lancer.Has been starting fine.Went to get into it today- lights come on, but will not turn over. Not even trying to turn over.No clicking noise etc or anything.Headlights etc all working.Any suggestions as to what may be loose.Would a starter motor problem just instantlynot work, or should we look for loose cables! Any help would be greatly appreciated. If it was the battery would have thought the lights etc would not work.Husband just returned overseas to work so not a goodstart to the day.

This may sound silly but toot the horn.does it sound normal, if so then the small plug on wire may have fallen off the starter (A common fault on that model) or it may be corroded. It looks like a small black plastic shield over the smallest wire at the top rear of the starter. Let us know how you got on. If thats ok you need to test the starter wire (That small one I have describe by placing a test light from it to ground (Unplugged) and get someone to activate key start. Lamp should glow brightly. Ensure the battery terminaals are tight and clean.if there is white powder on them, pour boiling water over them to clean.

Forgot to also tell you that to get that wire off you need to squeeze the black plastic sleeve tightly to release it.

If all else fails call AA if you belong or your insurance company breakdown service if you signed up for it.
