B2200,courier. drinking the juice

. drinking juice like its going out of fasion. half tank in 2 days less that 300kms. 2.2 petrol. 5spd manual.timing sweet, new leads, plugs etc. points cleaned in good contion. any thoughts on 2 ltr cortina weber carb! ( as sugested on mazda trucking .com

choke isn't playing up!I would have thought that 300km out of half a tank wasn't too bad for one of those, most of those larger engine Jap utes were not known for economy, the 2.4 Hilux/2.6 Mitsi's were even worse, because of the lack of power the gearing always had to be far too low.Later model 6 cyl Holden/Falcon utes were similar and in some conditions cheaper to run.

I've got a 2 litre Courier, seems about right. I get less than 500kms out of a tank.

My B2200 is reasonably thirsty, but a carb kit wouldnt go astray at their age.

Yeah my 2.2 does about the same. they arent the most economical machines. Maybe put some bigger wheels on the back to keep it reving lower at higer speeds. Dad did this with his diesel courier. from 15s to 16s and huge difference in fuel usage and cruising speed

I tried 16s on my one too, but it was just too hard on the clutch when driving off in first gear or reversing.

Yup this can work in many applications just remember your speedo will be out.
