Leaking radiator, from a large stone or rock .

farnortherner, Jan 23, 7:58pm
Ok what is the best solution without having to buy another radiator to fix the leak on my radiator for my ford falcon stationwagon ef 4.0, Ive heard of no more leaks for small leaks but Im unsure how big this is, it takes about less than an hour for water to drain out of the bottle.Any advice would be appreciated. My friends driveway to their property was pretty rough and picked my son up, the fan light on ford showed up straight away when a rock or something must have hit radiator.Help please.

Take it to a radiator shop, get it fixed. It is not worth gambling with fixing a radiator for the sake of a rebuild / replacement engine.

is the leak in the core, i would take it out and just solder it up with some lead,

Tried the abro heavy duty for $14 cooling system stop leak, and it worked sealed the leak up.So hope it stays like that will keep an eye out. Thanks for that number Jasoo, if I had a phone book bill-robinson I wouldnt have asked, staying rural is not always easy to have access to one.Thank you Jasoo.

You could always crimp the top and bottom of the leaking tube, long nose pliers should do the trick.

If you have a computer you have a phone book for the whole world !

Its not fixed its patched up until it fails, probably when your along way from help.

farnortherner, Aug 23, 12:27am
lol yes Desmodave your right there not fixed up yet.But now just thought I may as well buy a new one on trademe for $200 instead of mucking around now.I intend to still drive the car until she does die so well worth me doing radiator and besides have to do the belt as well.
Anyone know how long it takes to do belt and radiator on an ef, just finished the oil change again as Aint done one since January this year.
Depending on how long it takes could take to mechanic but would like to know how long would it take thanks.
