Find someone with a GPS or an iPhone or android phone and check your speed via the GPS. Also your torque converter may be slipping.

Tell me the actual tyre size and I will calculate what RPM you are pulling at 100kmph with that diff ratio

quickstitch, Jan 25, 2:05am
utes and panelvans had a 3.23, you may have one of those in there. most common diff was the 2.77, used in 6 and 8 autos, should be easy enough to find one.

Dump the auto & put a 5 speed in it . I had xd van put mild 302 c in itdidnt need 1st gear after the 5 sp conversion (origonaly 4 sp ) & 5th was goodformotorwayuse .

15 inch eagers!, unless he's got 35 profiles they'd still do the ton under 2200 rpm, near do that on the rims alone
suspect it will be the vacumm though - no top gear - or selector lever on wrong and no 3rd either

shopaholic3, Jan 25, 9:14am
I am getting all gears my vacume hose is fine maybe about long but doesn't leak

shopaholic3, Jan 25, 9:17am
Sorry I mean abit too long

skin1235, Jan 25, 10:53am
is it a proper vacuum hose, if not it maybe sucking itself closed and thus not effecting vacuum to the unit at all

skin1235, Jan 25, 10:56am
unclejake will tell you if you tell him the tyre size, ie 235 65 15, or whatever it is, if your reves are dramatically different to what he says you either have miscounted the ratio's or have seriously hammered torque converter or clutches/bands in the box

I had a Jumbo CF Bedford with a 302 Windsor and C4 driving through a 3.23:1 and 14" tyres and it was definitely a bit under-geared .Was even worse on it's first test run as we'd overlooked the vacuum hose and didn't get to 3rd gear. Was told at the time that the 2.92:1 would've been the go.

So you stuck a v8 in it, changed nothing else, and now its screaming it's nuts off. Those old steel bladed radiator fans make a lot of noise aye.
Take the fan off and go for another drive.

I would borrow a Navman or Garmin GPS and go for a drive that will tell you your actual speed.
