What is this for, not for standard DVD but what would it be for!
The unit is under a cover above the steering wheel and also a plug - presumably for a phone hook-up.

Can one if possible get a DVD with NZ mapping on it and put it in - that it could be used. Just wondering or if one took that unit out then what could one do to replace it with. or wil it effect that overall system.

The first part is definite.
Even replacing the whole system can be problematic.I'm not sure about the Presage but often the system is built into the dashboard and requires additional parts to physically fit the replacement unit in.

So, is it possible to remove that DVD rom unit without disturbing all else remembering that the DVD rom has a dvd disc slot. Hmmm wondering that DVD rom is only that and nothing else, would have connecting cables or plugs whatever that could be used or is this could upset the normal workings of everything or some other items. Just don't seem right in removing it unless one knows for sure.

in the similar aged primeras they had a control module in the boot, people have tried to use the screen for other things.
would make sence if nissan had produced dvd's for more countries- nissan nz could be making a fortune selling these dvd's to all the nissan owners

The difference is a 3-series is sold worldwide whereas something like Presage is only every going to be sold new in Japan and possibly some of the South East Asian markets

Sent a note to Nissan NZ, here is part of reply - "Further to you enquiry. Unfortunately English operating software and NZ Navigation Maps are not available for your Presage as this system was developed for the Japanese domestic market only.
For additional information on the features of your vehicle we have the general export owners manual available" . but does not reveal everything.
