seen an accord v6 do 140,000 on a cam belt. Like to see the stats that say they commonly snapas for handling I can guarantee where the accord understeers the holden oversteers but see the most recent comments about the nsx lol

Poor aussie tanks barely made it into the top ten.

http://www.nmd.com.au/nmd/news/details/6288

I watched this race last year and saw a 'teg pass a Falcon on the outside of the last corner of Bathurst. Evos made up about 6 of the top ten.

Recently there was a "Time attack" challenge at Sydneys Eastern Creek, the Cyber Evo from Japan took the outright track record from Skaifes V8 supercar by one second.

I think someone has smoked a bit too much weed. Crash tests safety tests economy tests the euro has smoked the sv6 the holden vectra and the holden astra as well as the toyota camry and thru mazda 6. Lol. In handling wherever the euro oversteers the sv6 would have spun out Before its even lost it. To solve that they had to put even wider tyres on it making it cost even more in servicing. For a gutless 6 cylinder that uses more fuel rides like a horse and only just outruns an accord in the 0-100 mark that costs the same. I know what most people would prefer. Funny thing is your the only one defending them here. Lol look at that ratio. Usually that tells you whose right and whose a lost cause. Besides holden had to get s bailout from the government because they were going under. honda on the other hand were still making record profits.

^^^It's a good thing the OP is not interested in buying a V6 Accord then isn't it!

Honestly Scotty20001 have you driven any of these cars for yourself, that you are so busy rubbishing!

And I don't understand why you keep referring to an SV6 as a "sports car". It is a conventional, large family car with a handle ("spoiler" LOL) on the boot lid, different mags, a reasonable level of grunt and the base-spec interior. I guess black fabric seats with red bits in them are "sporty".!

Are we not straying from the topic a little!

antwerp87, Jun 3, 8:52pm
Lol ESP has been around for years. Used to be ESC or TC. And yes I do know what it does and how it works. I am a Mechanic and have been in the trade for over 10 years. And I was working in Brisbane as a mechanic for 3 of those years. Lol I have seen my fare share of written off Holdens. Go to Capalaba wreckers (One of Australia's biggest wrecking yards) and half of the cars in there are Holdens. and not suprisingly quite a few modern ones too. In fact they have an entire section Just for Commodores. ESC has been out for a good 20 years yet its taken GM till last year to really start introdcing it. And its still ineffective and there still behind the ball when it comes to safety and control.
(Side note and a little off the ball: Everyone knows the reason why the Skyline was taken out of the Supercars campionships, It was overall unfair for the rest of the competetion that even tho they all had power restrictions the Skyline smashed them on the corners because of the heavy piles of crap trying to get round a corner let alone lumbering down the straights. Sadly as we get into the era where technology outweighs size Holdens being manifatured in Australia will soon become obselete and will only export to America where the muscle car is still going strong. (mainly because there not inteligent enough not to waste all there fuel on geting from a-b) That is the only thing keeping it alive.)

antwerp87, Jun 3, 9:04pm
LOL! Where Did you get that information from! Best in the business. What! Did a Holden rep tell you that! Your preaching tot he choir when it comes to ESP. Like I said it started off as TC 20+ years ago. Not only controling ABS AND DBW but it uses EBD to control what wheel to put the majority of the braking to and in an Auto will even change to the correct gear to bring the speed down to gain control easier. Dont try to school me on something I already know about. I reckon you have had your fair share of run in's with Zeph for being a know it all.

antwerp87, Jun 3, 9:16pm
See there ya go. Holden panicked because 4 years prior other Manifactures had already introduced various forms of ESP. So what did Holden have to do! Catch up to the ball as they have always been doing. VSA (ESP) Will not only control braking to an individual wheel but the wheel with traction gains additional torque to control the car. Bosh does not lead the field in ESP. They recieved the rights to copy and adapt what had already been created by other manifactures. Rather than googling all your information on the fly to try prove a point you keep loosing go away for a while and study it like others like me have had to do for years.

antwerp87, Jun 3, 9:53pm
Where! You have had no claims to say that in any way is the SV6 is in any way safer and actually up with the times. You started about ESP and ballsed up that claim, In fact it wasnt even Holden who designed there own. Like I said they panicked and had to contract Bosh to have it in there cars because most other Manifactures had it. Including the Honda Accord. So the only way that the SV6 is better is performance (Because it has a bigger engine) Technology wise Holden falls behind completely. VSA is miles ahead of ESP and always has been. But thats not much of a claim to fame, Holden didnt even design there's. The VZ was an old car even when it was new. It had no features to skyte about because it had nothing special.
Accord Had EBD ESC ABS TCS VSA 7 Air Bags, the Best economy rating for a Medium Family sized car (Its original catagory even tho it was the biggest in its field, and now that its in the Large Family Car its still the one of the best in all those areas.) (Commodore was always in the Large Car Category
So in no way yet have you proved me wrong. Instead you have been wrong with the majority of your claims except speed which isint anything to be proud about considering its still just a family car.

ninja_man, Jun 3, 10:19pm
.

what it comes down to is personal preference, some like the sv6 better, and others prefer the accord. so get over it and stop rubbishing japanese cars, oh and by the way a gtr is not "rice". you would have to be retarded to calla gtr "rice". A rice car for example is a honda civic with huge bodykit, exhaust, chromes etc,not a gtr that would crap all over any holden.

thegravelracer, Jun 3, 10:25pm
i gotta say your a persisatant bugger aye scotty but thats good you stick to your guns ,by the way i have drivin a sv6 and many other commodor's and i have test drivin a 06 euro and if i can find one around im gonna test drive the euro r [tho i have no intension of getting the R model ,and i tell ya the 6 speed manual accord i drove felt a bit faster to a hundy k than the sv6 but they are close i dont understand how you can say the sv6 ''shits on the accord in every way as im convinced that its allmost equal .In saying that the sv6 had more top end but im not interested in travleing at 200+km in a nice car like a 06 honda or commy as itl just get taken off me or worse the accord has beautiful handleing and i didnt feal anymore understeer than any other fwd it was more economic than i expected to .but most of all the shear look of it apeals top me it has i nice modern exteior and a comfortable and sleek interior with all the vehicle assest that the sv6 has.with the sv6 maybe it is your cuppa tea but its too boat like for me to thirsty for me to common for me and its a holden if i wanted to have a holden it wouldnt be a run of the mill holden it would have to be a old school big ass v8 but thats not what im wanting at this stage maybe in a few years when i hit the mid life crisis .so yeah in a sum of words the sv6 is a good car but in my opion the accord apples to me in just about every way in comparison so yup im GONNA GET ME ONE just gotta decide between a manual or auto [as the missus will be driving it too and being new id say the clutch wont be cheap lol]

thegravelracer, Jun 3, 10:27pm
lol apples i meant apeal's

antwerp87, Jun 3, 10:33pm
The clutch isisnt too bad in the Euro. Surprisingly I dont replace that many of them in fact were getting Euros in now that have done 600k and it hasnt been changed yet mainly because its all country driving. If your Driving around town and the Mrs is driving it too get an auto. There just as reliable and good fun to drive still and economy doesnt change much. You wont regret it. Both manual and auto have Cruise Control etc so the only thing that changes is the box.
Congrats on your decision

Where in NZ are we going to use all these "Dynamics" or lack there of that someone keeps going on about. We have mostly shit roads with 4 feet between cars going both ways. No actually its about a 4inch line. We have a 100kph open road limit. There are a few nice roads about where you could experince some spirited driving for sure.
My guess these people who stress about how good they think there car handles are the ones I come across coming toward me on a tightish corner with a look of fair on there faces because they lost(or loosing )control of there barge thinking they were a cut above everyone else. Thank God for electronic saftey devices that may save these clowns.
Most newish cars are better than most drivers anyway.

antwerp87, Jun 3, 10:56pm
Agreed. Speed + Corners dont mix (unless its on a race track) in fact it kills. Safety has become a major part in modern cars these days. The more safety features the more abreviations to remember. Gets a bit confusing after a while but all in all it has gone from saving the car in a crash to saving a life in a crash. This is why plastic bumpers, shear off bolts on subframes, aluminium bonnets and angles have changed so lives are saved. Sadly Australian and American made cars havent come to this understanding as quickly so are now on the catch up to bring all the safety features in all models.

antwerp87, Jun 3, 11:34pm
