except ours was light blue and white. I was 5-6 yrs old and I remember it catching fire. I hated it!

Oh sorry, but Id rather talk about the best, My dad came home with an HX GTS Monaro, I was in love, soooooo cooool, want one now. Red/Black matching seats, real vinyl, honeycomb mags, 308.

r15, Jun 2, 2:46pm
wow, looks heaps nicer than the newer one!

klrider, Jun 2, 2:55pm
Worst decision they every made putting a holden badge on an Isuzu, I think they did it with the Bighorn as well.

tina1000, Jun 2, 3:24pm
a mazda 323 station wagon it was rusty that my dad put tape around the bonnet and made us colour in it with yellow pencil(that was the colour of the car). and when we went on hoilday the tape use to fly off down the road, shame!

Jowett Javelin

gedo1, Jun 2, 3:39pm
Gemini was based on the third generation Opel Kadett. A European vehicle. Badge engineering by GM as the Isuzu, like the Gemini was based on that same Kadett. My parents worst car - Bradford van we all went camping in with all the gear in the back and us perched on the top of that.Instant blecchh!

drog, Jun 2, 3:42pm
A step up from a Jowett Bradford tho.

Old Jag!

Daihatsu Compagno Berlina.

A wonderful all-round package let down by a godawful tractor-like gearchange.

Worth a small fortune now and very sought after. Its on my "must own one day" list. Not a lot of fun as the sole family car though, the novelty would no doubt wear off, the 600cc air cooled engine does work quite hard on the open road when loaded.

I think you should continue the tradition and inflict a modern Multipla on your kids if you have them!

johnf_456, Jun 2, 4:53pm
Brings back memory's of the old shit boxs holden made, I sure as hell remember the never ending rust problems in the early ones.

johnf_456, Jun 2, 4:54pm
I must that ain't bad compared to the new flimsy plastic ugly looking multiplias.

johnf_456, Jun 2, 4:57pm
Lol nice

thejazzpianoma, Jun 2, 4:58pm
T130 Corona, if it wasn't for the rust it probably would have been an O.K car for its time. However it was nearly rusted beyond repair and it was only a few years old.
Their fractionally newer (NZ New of course) Honda Accord EX by comparison was a million times better vehicle. I think those second generation Accords were/are a very under rated car. They were a fantastic machine in their day.

thejazzpianoma, Jun 2, 5:00pm
The new Multipla's are far from flimsy. They are actually really solid. They do however suffer from the paint softening and going sticky on the interior plastics. Its the Puntos/Stilos that feel a bit flimsy, although are really good in a crash.
Multiplas also don't have much plastic inside, the dash is cloth which is a fantastic idea that I wish other manufacturers would start doing.

brucie44, Jun 2, 5:01pm
got lostin that site for about 30 minutes
nice

johnf_456, Jun 2, 5:02pm
Well the ones I have seen from clients etc are very worn and even some of the owners tell me the interior is flimsy and breaks easy compared to his old jappa. Thats what people tell me I don't own one but yeah.

thejazzpianoma, Jun 2, 5:05pm
Interesting, ours has been absolutely abused as a high km's tradesmans van and has held up pretty well (aside from the stickyness). What does happen though is the drivers seat bases get thin, but thats more because the seat is high and gets heavy wear as you get in.
I totally agree about the Punto/Stilo interiors not taking hard punishment though. With regard to the Multipla I guess some people can break anything!

Anyhow, enough tangents from me, this is a good thread so I don't want to pollute it.

Have you considered a Fiat tattoo yet, I'm sure you profit somehow from Fiat.

My Dad bought a Daihatsu Hi Jet ute when they first came out in the early 70s for his beekeeping business. It was a 600cc! 2 stroke and probably would have been OK for puttering around town, but 100k was just too much for it.Everything was just spinning too fast.Everything broke. The Taneatua garage went from a flathead Ford ute to a new Holden in the time he had the Daihatsu. It seems a bit odd seeing the current mini trucks running around as quite reliable vehicles, 'cause they sure weren't in 1972.Graeme.

Vauxhall Viva HC station wagon. The datsun 120Y it was traded in on was a revellation. We didn't have to get into the car 15 minutes before leaving in the hope it would eventually start.lol!
