look at the exhaust headers on the front and rear cylinder banks, they might be hanging off of there perhaps. If you don't know what they look like, you probably need to evaluate why you are looking for them in the first place.

The front one is visible by looking down the front of the engine at the point where the headers join up. It's quite small, as it only has to service 1250cc of engine. The back one is best seen from under the car up the back of the engine, follow the exhaust up.The rear inlet manifold is in the way of almost everything, you need to remove it to even change rear bank spark plugs.
I believe the engine is a 6A13TT, but mine wasa 97 VR4 Legnum.I think the 6A12 is the normally aspirated 2.5, which may also be SOHC. The 6A13TT is quad cam 24 valve.Lotsa fun, enjoy. Except at the gas station.

1996 was the last year the 6A12TT was used in the VR4. Its a 2L DOHC 24 valve

6A12 is the 2.0L in the 7th gen 1992-1996 Galant VR-4, you're talking about the 6A13 which is the 2.5L in the 8th gen 1996-2002 Galant VR-4. The SOHC 2.5 is still a 6A13.
