Thoughts please. Dealings with these! Drives smooth, No smoke or funny sounds, Cambelt done at 190km done 227km. Asking on behalf of a mate. 3k he can buy it for.

If you have to ask, you cant afford.

They can be economical-ish, is you drive them like a nana. But as soon as you hit the loud pedal, they drink the stuff.

It's getting a bit past its use by date, the normal cutoff I recommend is 10 years/150K when buying used Subaru's, especially any turbo ones.If its in good order and looks like its been well looked after mechanically (get a good look at all the trans/diff oils and coolant for a better idea), and it still feels pretty "tight" when driven then it might be worth a punt.Also see if any receipts are available for the cambelt job, you want to know its been done properly, not just the belt alone.Unless its A1 I would negotiate a bit harder on that price, it's not like there is a shortage of them available.

I had a 1999 B4 sedan.

Engine was pretty good really, but the gearbox turned to licorice all-sorts at 120,000km.

Good car jason! I run a 98gtb gearbox and puts up with 400+hp. the engine in the 98 gtb legacy have shim over bucket heads that will flow still flow around 450hp max. the pistons are not forged but are short skirt to eleminate excessive piston slap onlydown side is they run open deck block unlike the earlier ones. theres plenty more but gota go now:)

Yes, around town.
I'm running full boost on the primary turbo, it's a tiptronic and I usually accelerate at 80% throttle up to 3500rpm or so.
