Just a question for someone that might be able to help me. Sometimes when i go on a long trip my car wont change into fifth gear from fourth, i have to change into trip then put it into fifth so it will be in fifth gear. I know that it has long gear ratios, could it just be that.!

Don't know if it applies to these BMWs but some cars won't change up to top gear if the coolant is not warming up enough, for example if the thermostat is stuck open making the engine run too cool. Just a thought.

Don't some of the previous generation BMWs lock out 5th gear if sport mode is selected on the transmission! Long shot thought anyway.

Thankyou! :D Also a knocking sound from front left but have taken it to a tyre place and he said it can be quite common in beemas as he has changed shocks and everything on one and the knocking sound was still there!
