A client of mine owned a 2000cc (not a 2500)V6 Escudo along with a mid '90's 3.8 Holden Calais, and reported that the fuel consumption in urban conditions between the two was similar and the Holden was more economical on the highway by about 15-20%.Take from that what you will.If economy is an issue you should be looking at the 1600cc versions, they still perform OK for what they are, the V6 versions don't go as well as you'd think IMO.

We have a 2.7L Vitara and find it is great. Power is not huge but sufficient. Fuel wise it uses a bit less than the 3.0l Harrier we had prior, but if you thrash it the old fuel gauge can go down pretty quick. All round it has been a good buy for us. Off road capable for fishing, skiing etc and 7 seats to take the whole family, with plenty of room when not using the very rear ones. Personally I would be quite happy to buy another one when we wear this one out.
