I bought another one tonight. '94 nissan bluebird SSS. no wof, no reg. Tires all good, has a big chip in the CVA which is all I can see stopping it getting a WOF. $500. Not really a great deal, thats probably about all its worth with no WOF. Might be worth $1500 with one though.

I own 5 cars now, which is a bit shit.

Late '80's I saw a Triumph 2000 in a backyard, and asked the homeowner what was wrong with it.
He said that the head was cracked, as water was pouring out of the exhaust manifold.
He wanted $150.
I towed it home, put water in it, and, yep, there was water everywhere.
Tore off the manifolds, replaced the three frostplugs.
Wifey ran it for about three months, until I came home one day - no Trumpy in the drive.
Says she, " Oh, I got $500 for it".

Well I have way to many to list over the years but I will list the ones I had in the last 6 months: got a 96 Nissan Bluebird 1.8L Auto off my neighbour for $350 with a broken cam in the motor, got another motor for $300 but cost me $100 due to a repaid favor and it ended up oweing me less than $700 with new wof and 6 months rego and sold it a month ago for $2500, then I brought a 92 Astina for $250 off a mate that needed a bit of love like front screen, front brake pads, a seatbelt, a service, 2 rear tyres, 1 bulb and a really good clean inside & out and that ended up oweing me $625 all up with a new wof and I just strait swaped it for a pretty good 1990 Mitsi Delica diesel van that has 3 months rego, 2000kms diesel kms and needed a wof which I got today but it failed on front tyres, adjust headlights and needed sunvisor so I bolted on some mags ive got with good tyres, the shop adjusted the headlight for free and I got a sunvisor for $20! next its geting a full clean/tidy up inside & out, quick respray in white, respray the mags, lower it a bit and put it on tradme for $2500-$3500 range and then look for next money maker while im on a roll

Just got 96 windom for 700. Bad transmission but I have a spare, also the spare tranny came out of a car that was advertised as $700, I called and said 600 and he said ok, 4 brand new tyres to. Guy calls back and says "ahhhh I feel bad how about $500" which I obviously say yes to. Get there and he pays me $20 for the $10 change of ownership. Dude was high as a kite PMSL.

My first car was also an 84 mr2 in really good condition for 300 bucks. I have rolled it, been t-boned and lept it a few metres off the ground landing so hard it snapped engine mounts and it still goes like a champ. Insane little car.

I think this is car #30, I'm 21. I have a problem *hangs head in shame* lol

a few years ago i bought a 2.2 diesel estima from trademe that overheats if you dont have the heater on. drove it home, paid $100 to have the radiator cleaned, sold it for $3500 a few weeks later

a few weeks later i bought a 2.2 diesel estima from trademe for $1600, took it home, cleaned it, then sold it for $3300 a few weeks later.a few weeks after that they managed to blow it up -
rang me and said a light came up on the dash that looks like a radiator, so they drove it straight home, then to the mechanic, who said it would cost $4000 to fix. then the wanted me to give them $4000 for a car they had paid $3300 for. needless to say they didnt get a cent from me.

trogedon, Mar 22, 4:59pm
Like some of you I've bought, worked on and on sold cars for $.
7 1/2 years ago I bought our 1500 manual Libero at Turners for $5500 with 58k kms on it. It's still going great at 155k kms with only a ball joint done (beyond me doing the cambelt & oil changes).

ontwowheels, Mar 22, 5:36pm
I bought a 3L Man VL for $250. It had wof, reg but a blown headgasket. Body was pretty rough but that was OK. I only wanted it for the manual bits to convert my calais. People were selling conversion kits for up around $1000 which seems ridiculous. Sold 400-500 worth of parts off it, so essentially I made $ on it. The calais I used for 5-6 yrs, and sold for $700 more than I paid. Pretty happy with that. Except I still want it back!

dunbar01, Mar 22, 5:43pm
The best deal I got in a longtime, is the Stretch Limo on my profile. Fully WOF and rego, and is a great project and muck around hack. It sold on Trademe for $7,000.00, but the deal didn't go ahead. I called the guy and long story short. Paid $1,500.00 cash.

dunbar01, Mar 23, 10:15pm
Just got another great deal on a 1993 LTD wof'd and rego'd today.
