Nissan Primera whining noise

sheltie08, Feb 1, 6:48am
Heya hope someone can help. Have a 2001 automatic Nissan Primera. Been a bit of a lemon since i bought it - had around $5k worth of engine and gearbox repairs in just over 2 years!

It currently has a high pitched whine that occurs usually when the engine is cold and I put my foot on the accelerator and also when i take it off (eg slowing down or about to turn a corner). It can last for a few seconds. It has happened sometimes but rarely when the car is in Park or been put into Park. Mechanics are not sure what it is, but think it might been from the transmission area - they checked gearbox oil etc and was clear etc

Any ideas!

Lack of oil to the camshaft bearings.

they seemed to think oil etc was not an issue

is it a CVT or conventional automatic and does it have the SR or QG series engine!

CVT.had the gearbox bearings etc replaced just over a year ago

Being an '01 it could be the old shape or the new shape. I had a '99 P11 older shape and there was a whining noise coming from the power steering pump.

If the whining keeps going after you turn the engine off, there could be a Pom stuck under your bonnet.
