TOYOTA 2.4 PUMP PROBLEMS

kwdriver, Feb 2, 6:50am
Been having problems with what appeared to be starving for fuel. Changed fuel filter and found the old one was full of gunk + a bit of water, drained tank + put fresh fuel in it. This seem to have fixed the problem + ute was going like a charm, but it stopped dead. Can anyone tell me if you can pull the pump apart + clean it!

why, all it needs it bleeding properly this time, and loosen the injector pipes until all are pumping on the starter - did you also change or clean the injector pump filter, not that big mutha hanging in front of you, the very fine gauze one in the pump inlet pipe

are we talking a diesel! or a petrol to start with!

Sorry, yes diesel. Have bleed + had fuel at injectors. Now that it has stopped again we cant get anything at the injectors. Towed it to a sparky think the cut off had stoped working but its fine.

there is a fine gauze filter inside a pipe fitting just prior to the pump, you've disturbed the main filter, odds are great you've blocked that gauze filter

Will try that tomorrow. Thanks.

get a canister of diesel and 2 clear hoses from connect them to the in and out of the diesel pump and start it on that. You will see if it returns bubbles on clear hose, once it runs fine then you go further back to filter inspection for leaking membrane blocked line to tank etc.
and its not a sparki work its mechanics work your problem.

nost common is the pump on top of the fuelfilter has packed up and cracked its membrane the new ultra lows sulfur damages all seals including that one unless you run winns edt additive all the time in your fuel then you will have to consider that as option also.
If it wont suck on clear hose setup you fill the pump with diesel and get it going that is the only way .

if the diesel injector pump wont suck you have to fill the pump rear line in and then it should start sucking if it wont then you done something wrong or the diesel injector pump is broken now. Fuel-pump high and low pressure is all inside that unit no other fuelpumps exist on a 2,4 toyota 90s diesel
