We have a 1976 Ford Cortina E in our garage and was wondering what it would be worth please. It needs a bit of work but it go's. (been sitting in the garage for 12 years)

Approx $2000 - $8000 depends on condition and who wants to pay.

gunna-1, Apr 27, 8:46pm
Is it the mk 3 shape with the oldschool dash.

kjsh, Apr 27, 8:50pm
Not sure gunna-1. It has square headlights and was the last mk3 before they went to the mk4.

gunna-1, Apr 27, 8:52pm
So i guess it has the square mk4 style speedo instead of the two round ones that came out with the early mk3,s.

gunna-1, Apr 27, 8:59pm
And is the motor a 1600 pushrod or an ohc motor.

msigg, Apr 27, 9:02pm
Its 2000cc ohc

gunna-1, Apr 27, 9:07pm
Yea it sounds like the mk3 that had the dash and motor of a mk4, most mk3 fans will want the 1600 pushrod motor, and the oldschool dash, but if its tidy you will need to find the right buyer, maby an old guy who use to own one or something.

Its something Id be very interested in. I like the facelift mk 3's, and am looking for another project.

mk3crazy, Apr 28, 12:58am
The one your looking at is not a 2000E but Listing #: 466112565 is and they were the luxury Mk3's and the E stands for executive. I had one until some low life stole it. My Cortina E was fitted with a Ford 302 windsor and c4 auto and painted black it was a nice car.

A Mk 2 would be cool, but I've never liked Coke!

How rust free the body is, especially underneath the vinyl roof if it has one and what the interior and all the woodwork is like will be big factors in its value, the latter is hard to restore properly. The mechanicals are no problem. It is definitely something you'd have to wait for the "right" buyer for.Nice cars for their day and with the exception of the earlier dual headlight 2000GT version would have to be the the most desirable Mk3's.The E was of course replaced by the Ghia in the Mk4 versions.

kjsh, Apr 28, 2:19am
It has buggar all rust for its age. The vinyl roof is in good condition. It has been locked away for 12 years with low kms ( about 104,000)

gunna-1, Apr 29, 5:02pm
I would try for about 1200$

elect70, Apr 29, 8:47pm
I hadMk 3 GTbut rust wasbad. Does it have the gaugesin a centre console , i put engine &sierra 5 sp into amk 1 escort& grafted theconsole inlooked good , was quick little carforweekender

mk3crazy, Apr 29, 10:38pm
It will be worth more than that.

gunna-1, Apr 30, 4:27am
That depends on weather they give it a service and get a warrent on it first though dosent it, otherwise maby a couple of grand! if it polishes up ok.

stevo2, Apr 30, 4:37am
Nice car in its time. I wanted one when I sold my HQ but bought a Galant instead

goose13, Apr 30, 4:43am
can you get hold of me at my wanted adds, could be interested if it is what i want could be worth good money if factory E model,Thanks Bruce.

pnh4, Apr 30, 4:45am
Its funny how when younger I thought these cars like the E & the mk4 were the ducks guts, most compact looking machines on the road. Now when I see the odd one around theyre actually quite the opposite, but mind an old alpine or avenger, chevette or starlet still appeal.

msigg, Apr 30, 5:58pm
There's one advertised on here for $7500

richynuts, May 1, 2:27am
I use to be in the cortina club back in the early 90's, Most guys in the club turned their nose's up at a mk3 E unless it was an absolute minter. I owned a really tidy series1 mk2 1600E, sold it 11 years ago for $2500 they have gone up a bit now thanks to TM. For your car I would possibly have an auction and start around the 3k with reserve around the $4500 and see how you get on.

floscey, May 1, 2:40am
bugger, i sold my 2000e back in the late 80s for a grand ,with a recoed motor. Miss the car , apart from themounts for the upper diff arms kept ripping out of the floor.
