Holy shit that is thirsty, my 4wd turbo 3sgte does about 8.5l/100kph on motorway / open road, and about 10l/100kph city driving. I mostly nana it but even with the occasional heavy foot when getting on the motorway it is no where near as bad as yours. Good friend of mine has a FWD auto rav, she doesn;t know the figures but I'll have to ask what shes getting to a tank, she mentioned it was thirsty but if its anything like yours I can see what she means :S

I guess one of the main problems is that a rav4 most likely has terrible aerodynamics. I heard somewhere that drag / air resistance increases exponentially with speed, so I can imagine at 70 - 80kph+ the old rav would have a thirst that would outlast religion

Something must be wrong surely, my 96 3.4l V6 surf does better than that on the open road.
