How do you rate your driving/riding ability ?

I would rate myself as about a 7 for car (if 10 is a F1 driver).

Bikes! I don't ride so I'd be rubbish.

I maintain good vehicle control, know the limits of the car and have good spatial awareness (or so I think).

10 out of 10

doomy999, May 11, 6:03am
what about when you're sober!

morrisman1, May 11, 6:13am
If only I had a holden 'super six' then I would be 10/10. Sadly without this epic car I can get no further than 2/10.

Bicycle:7

I am a good driver, never had or caused an accident in the last 50 years of driving, but I notice I am missing things(reaction time! slower) so really need to remind self to concentrate when driving. So probably a 7

Such restraint shown in others estimates of their own driving skills. If Schumacher, Rossi etc are 10's I'd honestly consider myself lucky to be around a 5 in such illustrious company.

7 on the suzuki, i ride it to work every day
5-6 on the harley because of the extra weight, handling and stopping
5-6 in a car although i dont drive every day, i feel that riding a motorcycle makes you more aware of all conditions you may come across when on the road

I would say 6, but I rate the average driver as being a 3, meaning I think I'm better than most drivers I see.

I base that on several things, the main one is, I see objects on the road before the car in front of me. It seems like a lot of people stay in their lane by looking at the corner of their bonnet and lining the center line up on it, meaning they don't see what's coming.

i'm man enough to say i'm actually a 1, but almost every other driver i encounter is in the negatives.

not on the "law obedience" scale

which is the approved measuring stick used by Nana's everywhere

my niece cant drift all that well compared to her brother. she speeds around as he does. i rate her as the "better" driver tho because shes more realistic about her abilitys. meaning responsible

wrong2, May 12, 5:17pm
& thats what it comes down too : responsibility level

i can control a sideways car. . . . . . but can i control my urge to go sideways . . . . .

woody1946, May 12, 5:25pm
I would rate myself similar. 66 years old and never been involved in an accident or scratched a vehicle while driving

frytime, May 12, 5:41pm
on the road in a car 4
on a road bike 1. have only been on a road bike once (without licence)
motocross bike 3
4wd 5

had one friday night on way home, car took the gap across sh1 and hit the island, stoped in front of me, felt sorry for the guy in the middle of the road in the turning bay as a 4wd with bull bars lined him up.

i think the people here that reacon they are 7 up wards are kidding themselves, they should be race car drivers.

modie61, May 12, 6:08pm
Just passed my full licence test with 35 out of 35,practical test with only 1 small comment,so i think im ok,just have to drive for all the other road users around me to stay safe. That is a full time job. I cover around 250ks per day,in,heavy and car.

I had a senior moment last night, driving back from Napier started with sunglasses on and wondered why the headlamps were so dim, wife said you would see a lot better if you took your sunglasses of. This was after getting over the Saddle Road as well. There you go silly old fool for sure.Rest of the time I have driven rather well for the last 55 years.
