What! what 04 Corolla are you looking at!
It's a chain driven engine 04 is a bit of a change point but should have a 1ZZ-FE or a 2ZR-FE engine both 1.8l

Hi Paul--just to be 100% clear --I have 5 vehicles here with 1ZZ engines and ALL ARE CAM CHAIN ENGINES

Nope 2ZZ-GE is import corolla only. We never had the 2ZZ-GE as an engine option NZ new. And the 2ZR-FE is the 1.8 still but the new family.

yes but he said it was a 2004 model and the ZR family of engines weren't released until the current shape of Corolla in 2007.
I am pretty sure there was an NZ-new equivalent of the Run-X, thinking it was called the RS180!

Yip your right got the years a bit miffed I thought the ZR was a bit earlyer. I cant comment too much on the RS180 as I have never seen one come through our dealership and is not on the New cars line up! I know there is a TS Corolla but it was more a sport model package and not an engine option.

Who needs engine numbers!.don't chain engines always have an oil tight metal cam cover, while belt engines have a floppy plastic one.LOL
