Toyota Granvia dashboard switch question

Have just bought a '96 Granvia. It has a switch on the dash with ECT on it. When pressed on it registers as ECT on, on the dash display in green but I haven't noticed any difference in driving. Anyone have any knowledege of what it's about!

Enhanced traction control used the ABS system improve your vehicles traction by slowing an individual wheel down ( slipping wheel will spin ) thus applying more power to the one with better grip and the speed sensors monitor all four wheels to make sure that one is not spinning much faster than the rest.wiki wiki wiki

Actually I think its to do with the transmission - what Toyota calls their 'power' mode

lol. clicked on the wrong link. I should read what I copy lol.yep transmission

ECT power is an option that allows you to make the transmission stay in a lower gear for a longer period of time to allow the engine to "wind out" more. the higher the RPM for any given gear, the more power you can get to the wheels. it makes for quicker acceleration if the trans. shifts later.
