What sort of BMW is it! and year might get a reply!
If its an old carburetted one it will be a ruptured petrol pump diaphragm.ready to explode and blow the rocker covers off!
What makes you think its petrol in the oil if you don't mind us asking!

Could be rooted fuel injectors leaking fuel through the cylinders and into the sump overnight.Had an Audi that did that once.
