Why do Falcons depreciate so much?

Ha ha. I'd rather drive a Crewman than a coon any day coon. Looks like all the Ford Fan boys are going to use Holden as an excuse for its poor resale value of Fords. You might be right, more people will pay more for a Holden, but why. It can??

xacoon, Jul 18, 4:33am
perfect fanboy comeback, well done

3tomany, Jul 18, 4:35am
nothing wrong with falcon resale values just bought my second fg 10 k to change very happy customer

mapman, Jul 18, 4:41am
How about this from an Aussie website.

Copy & Paste ???Figures show that large cars are by far the biggest losers when it comes to retaining their value after three years. And the news doesn't get any better after five years. Ford's Falcon is the worst performer, losing more than 60 per cent of its value in its first five years of ownership.

To put that into money terms, if you were to buy a Falcon XT at its sticker price of $40,290 plus on-road and dealer costs, you would stand to lose almost $25,000 in the first five years of ownership - that's about the same as putting a $100 note in the bin every week.???

Wow, AU$100 a week in the rubbish bin every week for five years. That is the true value of a new Ford Falcon right there. Better get a bigger bin for the coon too. Why would you buy one.

I love the link title ??

xacoon, Jul 18, 4:45am
ooh I dunno, a mint xt is fetching pretty good coin, more than a dirty lod ht, and will always look better than a crewman.

gunhand, Jul 18, 4:46am
Thats why you wait a few years and buy a good low km 2nd hand one, plenty of life left in it and all the bugs sorted useually.

xacoon, Jul 18, 4:46am
are they still making crewman mapman! I thought they were that hated that even the holden kids couldn't keep them going!

lanks5, Jul 18, 4:48am
I've been driving company supplied Commodores since 1999- last 3 were SV6's- -I average 45 / 50ks a year -last one a 2008 model- I did 180,000ks in 4 years and was replaced 3 months ago with a used Falcon XR6 ( 35ks on the clock - company policy). The XR6in my humble view is superior in everything but most importantly - drive comfort and power. If I had to buy my own, a Falcon it would be- I'm not a car fan /nut in anyway and most big 6's just do their thing but the current XR6 is very driveable and comfortable . I believe their low resale is, as previously stated in this thread, they are a common fleet vehicle hence lots for sale all the time.

the web site you justy gave me said this, after 5 years ownership falcon xt loses 39%, omega43% falcon g6 43% berlina 46% its official commodores lose more than falcons thanks mapman youre a gem

fordkiwi27, Jul 18, 4:56am
mapman go and take your great wall ute for a drive will ya!

3tomany, Jul 18, 4:57am
not great but better than a crewman

spongefrisk, Jul 18, 5:02am
I think you will find that figure is the remaining value. not how much it lost

mapman, Jul 18, 5:07am
No they don't and funny enough that help keep the resale price up. Don't know about Holden kids keeping them going or not, but it is fair that not every one liked them. I do and have had my new since 2006. Its only done 44,000 and has been babied, I??

mapman, Jul 18, 5:10am
What part of this did you not understand -------Figures show that large cars are by far the biggest losers when it comes to retaining their value after three years. And the news doesn't get any better after five years. Ford's Falcon is the worst performer, losing more than 60 per cent of its value in its first five years of ownership.Ford's Falcon is the worst performer. That is what it said Ford's Falcon is the worst performer. OK 3tomany!That would be Ford's Falcon is the worst performer, there words not mine.

mapman, Jul 18, 5:10am
What drugs are you on boy! What the hell are you on about!

mapman, Jul 18, 5:12am
Now you see how these ford fan boyz turn into little girls. I'd hate to be you.

3tomany, Jul 18, 5:16am
the numbers quoted give no real differance. i say buy what you like and be happy one or two percent meens f all. if you want to pay more for an inferier car just do it and be happy mapman and ps how much did youy sell youre crewman for just curious

mapman, Jul 18, 5:21am
The Crewman is downstairs tucked up for the night, I haven't sold it nor is it for sale. I did buy what I wanted and are very happy I did so. If I bought a coon back in 06 the thing would not be worth much now, that's for sure.

mapman, Jul 18, 5:28am
This is not a bad read on the subject. It??

outbidyou2, Jul 18, 5:28am
let it go kiddo

3tomany, Jul 18, 6:03am
the one thing in common for both is big cars are out of favor and i think itis because smaller cars show great value for money and great dynamics not seen in earlier small cars, also the suv market has taken the spot of traditional large cars, not to mention the tax deductability of utes making them a tradies choice so it is all against large cars at the mo making them a niche for dinosors like us mapman good nite

xacoon, Jul 18, 1:39pm
only 44000k, well I guess I would be ashamed to be seen in public in one too, are those 44000km to and from the nearest holden dealer to get it repaired!

xacoon, Jul 18, 1:40pm
sorry mapman, you just bite so nicely, I will go back to letting you be the ultimate fanboy in peace

mapman, Jul 18, 3:40pm
Too true.

mapman, Jul 18, 3:49pm
It only went to Giltraps down on the Shore for its 1st service and the rest up here. The ks reflect me working from home more than anything.
Ashamed to be seen in public, that would be a statement only from a Fordy. The Crewman looks so much better than Commy and Coon two door Utes and is more practical , which of course is the reason I brought it. What's you excuse for liking the very fugly Coon!
