the leasing thing is interesting there are two major components in a lease price interest and depreciation those two added give the total cost of ownership for a given time. so to conclude whenever i have leased a new car the falcon has always been cheaper and i have a few freinds who leese falcons on the same basis and the major leese companies dont care if you have a holden or a ford {i have always got them to quote both] given the new purchase price is the same the interest is the same only depreciation can be the differance therefore maybe commies in real life actualy depreciate worse than falcon! and the argument is a myth

Bubbles do you work for Holden marketing!. The govt is not pissed off and Ford don't have to pay back the funding any mre than Holden does. The 4 cylinder Falcon doesnt produce more pollution even though it uses less fuel than the Commodore. It appears that engine does not have the Euro 5 or 6 certification yet so it automatically goes to the poorer pollution rating. When that comes through then it's rating will be put to the correct level. The engine has that certification in the USA but not Aus at the moment so it simply paperwork. When that comes through then it will meet the requirements and the govt can purchase. It has sold 350 in the 2 months it has been on sale so not a total waste of time yet. You cant write it off just yet bubbles. Perhaps in 4 years time if they can the Falcon then you can jump around for joy until the Commodore is canned.

Yes, the Australian government rating system is purely arbitrary in nature.

I guess it's because Falcons are such garbage that Taxi drivers choose them over Holdens. Wouldnt let reliability stand in the way. Mind you, we are doing quite well off VZ/VE timing chains at the moment. Gotta love them Holdens.

The next model VE is coming out without the flared guards apparently. Will truly look like a bathtub on wheels then.

God those flared guards on the Holden are try hard looking - just plain ugly. I can always (usually) rely on Ford to style their cars with what I call masculine elegance, they have a touch of class about them.

You can only draw these conclusions if you know the discounted fleet buy price for each make. The fleet buy price to the lease companies bears little relationship to retail. Also consider sale price model run-outs.

turbo V non turbo apples and oranges - pretty obvious which one goes better. maybe putting a turbo in commordoremight make it a different story

Why stop with the Turbo, fit the complete 4.0 I6 turbo and ZF box and then you only have the rest if the car to fix to turn it into something decent!

Turbo to S/C is comparable though - they both are forced induction and running similar PSI (XR6 Turbos only run 7-9PSI, can't tell me the Commy runs less then that)

Yeah, that's why the cops buy all the Fords too aye ??

what a dick the american ppv is a disaster for gm ford have won 80% of the contracts so far with there lineup holden only managing 1000 instead of to 20000 they budgeted on. newzealand police drive holdens because they won the tender on price , the last evaluation i saw a couple of years ago said ford and holden scored the same and hyundai who also tendered lost out because of front wheel drive. commodore won the tender on priceand price alone
And they use Falcon's as police cars in Aus . what was your point again!

Pretty obvious that mapman and bubbles are both as thick as each other, haven't seen such a collection of incorrect facts on here for a looong time.Keep it going guys its entertaining.
mapman,
Jul 18, 2:39am
That would be right, but in your own words 1000 units made it over. How many coons are used by the US Police! Zero, none, nada. Change your name to 82many I reckon.
mapman,
Jul 18, 2:40am
That would be why so many of the bad guys get away, not because they drive Holdens -- more like old Japers.
mapman,
Jul 18, 2:42am
And what would that make you Eistein! State what fact was incorrect -- dopey.

A wise man once told me not to argue with an idiot, cause they will beat you in experience. Therefore, I bid this thread farewell . Have fun :)

there is no left hand drive coon moron so they wont win any us sales with that. ford own the police pursuit car market in the us
3tomany,
Jul 18, 2:51am
and 1000 sold is 5% of what they thought hardly good business
pebbles61,

hahaha after all this time great to see mapman you are still the ultimate fanboy, still driving australias ugliest ute! you do realise the yanks dont have a falcon, and would preferably use a local car than the worlds foulest build (crewman) to chase crims!
