David Vizard wrote a couple of very good books on building the Pinto motor (1.3, 1.6 & 2.0)

get a haynes manual, it will tell you all you need to know. There is usually plenty to choose from on here.

Certainly are.
I built a 2.3 Pinto turbo years ago, got a whopping 187hp from it.- .then 9 months later it exploded into 6 million bits on Saleyards rd Otahuhu lol. That was back in the day when i worked at ACE wreckers on Saleyards rd, all we wrecked was Anglias, Cortinas & Escorts, hence the name ACE.

there not bad, parts are reasonably cheeps, make sure you replace cam bearings as these have been known to give trouble. mate of mine has 1 thats been turboed in his escort makes about 350hp

The cam bearing problems start cos the oil feeder pipe on top blocks up.
Another good thing 'bout the Pinto is ya can snap a cam belt and it won't do any damage to valves or pistons.

Correct me if I'm wrong, (going back a few years now) but I thought the 2.0 was non contact and the 1.6 was contact!

get a kent FR22 cam kit if they are still available, a set of extractors, a V6 weber carb (32/36 frommemory) and a bosch dissy. And that will be a real strong performer. and if you can locat a GT head, all the better.

Its ok with the secondaries at 36 but 32 for the main port was normal.
36/36 would be better with a kent cam
