I need to get a new car. Like they look of the Corolla Runx/Allex and the Mazda Axela. Anyone got any experiences good or bad with either these cars! Looking at models 2004-2007.thanks

Both are good. Mazda is nicer to drive.

Mechanically both are solid reliable cars. It will come down to your personal preference when it comes to driving them. Keeping in mind the allex/runx is a 1500 or 1800 and the axela is a 1500 or 2.3l so all quite different to drive.

Not quite right there Kaz, Axela is 1500, 2000 or 2300cc. Mrs Stevo has had the 2300 for 4 1/2 years. It has just clicked over 91,000km and has been nearly fault free. Beware there is quite a bit of road noise though. At this stage we aim to replace it next year.

I have the Mazda 3 NZ (2000cc) not Axela, and it is a rocket ship with economy to match. I haven't left town yet to get a long distance economy figure but around town (Owned for 12 months now) averages 8l / 100km! The Axela would be my choice in the 2L as it has all the extras the NZ ones don't have.
