It appears that LTNZ has finally cottoned on to people registering their cars on Exempt A class & have made a change as of Aug 1 2011 to stop this.
From Friday Aug 1 only the following vehicles can be reg Exempt A:
1: Pedestrian controlled goods & service vehicles.
2: Motor vehicles propelled & supported by self laying tracks.
3: Mobile machinery used on roads only in road construction zones in accordance with notices declaring such zones.
4: ATV's.

It was a bit of an easy out when registering a car that's for sure. & yes, i'm guilty of it in the past (several years ago).

I know a guy who had a Skyline which didn't comply and he had it registered as a farm vehicle. Is that the sort of thing this is aimed at!
