Insurance companies/demerit points

Can (and do) insurance companies look at your level of demerit points when they're weighing up your claim! (assuming you have a valid licence but do have some points against it-less than 100 obviously).thanks in advance for any knowledgeable responses (responses which are purely just opinions aren't gonna be helpful)cheers.

They do, by way of asking about your driving record over the last five years - i.e. any convictions for driving offences.

Logically, if you haven't committed any offences that may incur demerits, you won't have any points, ergo, you will appear to have a clean record.

No and I hope you where completely honest when you first got your insurance ie criminal convictions and motoring infringements because if you haven't they will find out and then decline your claim. Waiting for all the know alls on here to start quoting insurance laws which they know nothing about

Worms could take wriggle lessons from Insurance Companies, any excuse to refuse a claim.

You're always asked to disclose any traffic offences when lodging a claim. But this doesn't necessarily mean your claim will be declined.
Basically if you have driving offences, fines etc that would have stopped the company insuring you in the first place your claim may be declined. But a few speeding tickets here and there shouldn't make a difference usually.

They do that when one takes out a policy, so that's not answering the question.
