From what I understand, they still share many parts and the lower spec models are usually less protected so therefore easier to steal

I have a WRX and have found insurance to be very similar in price to my last car (Mitsi Mirage), ring round Ins. companies and get a good price.

My subaru is 10 bucks more a month to insure than my new falcon. But thats a turbo legacy

turbo + subaru IS higher than the N/A impreza's for a good reason (at least they were when I was shopping for insurance once upon a time (over 8 years ago)
