hello my ford courier has just dropped 5th gear is there a rebuild kit for this!because new or secondhand box is close to 2 grand!

Yer. wouldnt worry about it. Courier hasnt got enough power to push 5th gear anyway.

Don't tow in 5th gear.

yes there is a kit avalible from a place called gear tech. By the time a mechanic pulls out the gearbox and strips it down and replaces the parts, reassembles and refits it to the vehicle. You will spend that $2000 and some. Unless you are doing it yourself!

then how do you know it hasnt towed in 5th gear! Just pullin youre leg, it is a common problem with them towing just makes it worse

Have you got a quote from these guys in Auckland! They rebuilt my L200 sport for 6 hundy. Just chucked it in the boot of the car, dropped it off on a Thurs morning and got it back on Fri lunchtime. Great service. http://gearboxes.co.nz/index.html

Broken 5th gear spacer. Ball drops out, circulates a few rimes without hitting anything, then, bang, ball gets picked up and through the gears. Fix it now. Cheaper to do now, than spend 2k on a rebuild.
