If its cheap enough and goes well and she likes it then all good, if it lasts two-6 years then I guess its cheap motoring if it crapped out anyway.

you need all service documents from day one for the car or you would only want to pay 1000$ for it as a trans rebuild is likely 4500$i dont know what boxes they run but they will need servicing and its probably not been done , its not straight forward and requires a few special tools if its the same box as the golf has.
