It needs to be at least 70mm diameter and at least 70mm deep. Don't ask what it's for because it's too weird!

What's it for!

It's to go over a light bulb. There's one at each end of the vehicle, and the red lens has to be moved when the vehicle is going backwards.

Pick a part as you only need 1

you used to be able to get a rubber one with a replaceable lens each side for mounting on a trailer mudguard. but I suppose there is now a law not allowing them.

What about a cover off a flashing safety light! There are quitefew sorts and they've come down in price now so could be an option. Try safety shops or auto places. I'd go to NZ Safety or similar or TWL for a start.

Also that way you'll get a mounting if you need it, just butcher the insides to suit yourself.

IT's OK, I have found some red film. I'll make a frame to put over the headlamps, which are about 600mm diameter.
Surely there must be someone out there who can do a tempered glass with a tint.

So it must be something pretty big-arsed. My 2 bobs worth; Why not have headlights & taillights mounted on both ends, but with their own separate switches & wiring systems!

+1, sounds like a good idea. If it is some steam powered vehicle it probably isn't cheap by virtue of being one of those odd and expensive types of beasties, so the cost would be worth it surely!

Yes it's about 30 tonnes and has no steering wheel. It's just easier to drive it backwards. All shouldbecome clear in a few days. If it doesnt make TV news I shall be very annoyed.

Why not make that the tail light! I bet you would be the only one in the country who people will REALLY obey the 2 second rule.
