What's the fault? cvt

my 2001 mitsi cedia cvt. has stopped. it tries to go into reverse and the engine rocks slightly on the mounts but it wont drive, so i figure the belt is still intact. also, the gear lever reads neutral and drive. theres plenty of proper cvt fluid in it
are the solenoids andactuators on the outside or do i need to splt the case, and how can i test them! it has a cable to select the gears. thanks in advance

Im not a tranz specialist but it sounds like the main bearing has collapsed.-$3500 fix

why does everybody assume a transmission is driven by a rubber belt!

so can snybody tell me which type my one is! and why a bearing might be 3.5 k. Are there any tranny people out there with a mitsi repair data sheet for this gearbox.

Sorry beno I was short on time yesterday. Ive had a few of these transmissions fixed and there are no shortcuts. The bearing concerned is the main drive bearing andgo figure you have to strip EVERYTHING else out to replace it.There are washers that must be changed. The cheaper option is to fit a good second hand tranz but thats going to cost around $1800 with if you are lcky a 3 month warranty.
Sorry dude

All that said--PLEASE go and prove me wrong (I genuinely hope you do)
Take the car to a transmission repairer and ask them to run a test on the box.
It would be nice if its a cable busted or a blown solenoid

That CVT doesn't use "proper CVT" fluid.
