What size tyres are correct for 17 inch

i have two subarus,
one has 215x45x17 and the other has 215x40x17.
one must be 5% out on the speedo right!

Depends what the factory size of each "subaru" is!
What sort of subaru do you have, the factory size is often found on the door pillar / door of the drivers door.

um one is a 1995 bg5 and one is a 1998 bh.

Then they are after market wheels on them Im sure they didnt come out with 17s

just checked the bh and door pillar sticker is,
215x45x17.rims are factory.
the bg5 sticker has factory size of,
195x60x15,
but car has factory 17x40x17's off a 96 gt.

dif between these would be not much more than speedo error +/-3kph

Your speedo will be wrong no matter what aspect of the tyres. Speedos are not accurate at 100kmh from the factory check it with GPS
