Sorry for asking this question in the Motoring Section, a friend of mine has purchased a 9.9 HP Johnson Outboard. What would be the correct mixture!Would it be 50 to 1 or 100 to 1.The engine is old.It is a 1991.Appreciate any help.

Most likely 50:1

Google says:
"Everything after '64 is 50:1, TCW-3 oil." And:
"I had a 9.9hp Johnson (white housing)about that vinage and used 50-1. Seems like the manual said 100-1 for slow trolling, but to increase for higher RPM. I used 50-1 all the time and did not have any problems."

If in doubt,start with 50.

Ok cool. That second quote when they said 'about that vintage' was referring to 1990.
The Google search I used was '9.9 HP Johnson Outboard ratio' on Web and Pages from New Zealand.
two parts oil two one petrol and one Banana Muffin.

make sure you add the oil yourself - NEVER TRUST PEOPLE IN A GAS STATION TO DO IT
