2004 ford courier 4x4 deisel

Any one no about any probs with these these utes! any comments appreciated.

The diesels have cylinder heads made of a kind of hard toffee they always crack when overheated.
Pay special attention to the cooling system.

Good utes, but as above, make sure the cooling system is in good nick at all times, otherwise $2000+ repair bill will soon follow. If you have A/C, make sure there's no crap jammed between the condenser coil and radiator.

Check the cambelt history (it takes only 10 minutes to replace) and check for oil leaks from the RH side of the front diff. A minor oil leak isn't an issue, but is a sign that you will need to replace or rebuild the diff.

Gearbox problems with heavy towing,and cooling system,otherwise ok.

heads normally crack around the 100-140k mark, when towing it is advised not to use 5th as it over loads to thrust washer, which breaks. don't do what i did and lunch (sp) 3rd gear low range up a hill, bounce over a bump and land rev limiter. you will chip theeth in transfere, destroy 3rd and twish front drive shaft
