General purpose thinners from super cheap, not sure if you can buy it in just one litre though. On a rag, wipe very gently., do a test area first with the thinners in a place thats not seen.

intrade, Jan 26, 7:52pm
hard to say i would throw the gear leaver in the rubbish and get a new one and try to get the paint off the dash with thinner and then whipe with warm soapy water clean fast , but make sure the thunner dont desolves the dashboard plastic try a tiny wee spot only to see what its doing.
you can try that on the gerleaver also it should unscrewcounter clockwise the knob.
snap *2
nail polish remover is another one to try but be carfull i know i melted a hole in the plastic once with acetone on my old corolla when the bottle leaked

gammelvind, Jan 26, 7:55pm
Oh the little munchkins! You should be able to remove this with universal thinners. A little bit on a rag and gently wipe the paint off. Careful not too wet or it may remove the colour off the surface the paint is on. Good luck.

intrade, Jan 26, 7:55pm
also first try if you can carfully pray it off with fingernail as dash usually ahs shiny armarol and stuff preventing paint from binding to there to good.

thejazzpianoma, Jan 26, 8:00pm
If praying, I would go with a more vigorous approach, definitely not just fingernails, clasp both hands together and get down on your knees.

mrfxit, Jan 26, 8:14pm
LOL . "clasp both hands together and get down on your knees" THAT had better be what the kids are doing

the_chooky, Jan 26, 8:24pm
If you use Google chrome as a search engine it has a spell checker.

That gear knob looks much better in silver.Leave it be.

kazbanz, Jan 26, 9:48pm
rodeoraz if thats the worst of it then its not a biggie. The gear knob will clean up easilly with some thinners on a rag.most likely the dash board will clean up in the same way.WORST case senario is that the color will be bleached out of the dashboard but theres a crowd called VPL who specialise in recoloring.
Ive cleaned up a heck of a lot worse from trade ins over the years
I'm sorryTrade Me rules and the MMB tattletale prevents me from offering to clean it up for you (for free) due to the whole self promotion thing.

mrfxit, Jan 26, 9:59pm
If you knew Intrade for as longl as I do, then you would (insert appropriate expletive) & leave him alone about his spelling.

Thanks for all the help guys.

I went to our local Super Cheap and we did a spot test with Acetone. Looks like that will do the job.

I'm going to try pick away at the gear knob, screw it off and work on it while I watch tv or something.

There is hope! Thank you :)

If you get stuck, Millars car centre out in west Auckland has been known to fix up that sort of thing in exchange for chocolate biscuits. he has a LOT of kids though so you would want to bring at least two packets with you.

kazbanz, Jan 26, 11:22pm
NO --surely you aren't suggesting a job being done for ANY sort of payment.
Don't want the nark having anything to go on about

johnf_456, Jan 26, 11:26pm

Note to self.
Remember to be strong and ignore those who need to be ignored, oxygen feeds a fire.

johnf_456, Jan 27, 12:53am
Repeating yourself again!

lazzo, Jan 27, 2:16am
You could just do your best with what's on the dash and screw off the gear knob and replace it with a new one.

jmma, Jan 27, 2:20am
Looks like sr2 is on his app as well )o:

sr2, Jan 27, 2:43am
LOL; it looks like I've been for quite some time. I know I shouldn't feed the Trolls but sometimes it's hard not t! (Makes mental note to himself to keep it zipped).

thejazzpianoma, Jan 27, 2:49am
Sorry. I didn't think things had got that pedantic. thought I was doing everyone a favor and not breaking any rules. Apparently not.

Hopefully you won't cop any flack for what was clearly my mistake.
