Hi there. Can anyone tell me how serious it is that the rear diff bushes have split on a BF2 XR6! Is it an urgent fix! What sort of cost would I be up for this repair! Does it have to be done (or best to be done!) by a Ford dealership!

WOF inspectors here have been failing them for this, it is a mongrel job, rear subframe has to be removed. Ford dealer would charge to much I would say, any competent mechanic should be able to do the job fairly easily.
No. Do not get the Nolathane ones. We have had several pull out completely. They ride a lot harder and harsher as well in the rear end. We had to stop fitting them.
Subframe has to be removed and stripped. Often the bushes can get seized and can turn into labour intensive job. Ford has special service tools for them which allows them to be replaced with diff still in place so long as they aren't seized which will save you a good hour in labour cost. You're looking at a good 3 hours labour + parts at least where ever you go.

Have to get mine changed on a BF,have been told to go with the ford part from another mechanic(original has lasted 100,000k)
Have been told about 3 hours to change as above

Thanks for that everyone. This car has done just over 90kms Can you give me a rough guide on parts cost!
