Why do the car manufacturers come out with really dumb car names - usually spelt completly wrong. For example. Ford - kuga. I assume they meant Cougar! why not spell it cougar! Holden - cruze. I assume they meant Cruize! did they leave the 'I' out on purpose or was this a spelling mistake at the factory and they decided to run with it! Nissan - qashqai. I assume this is meant to be pronounced 'Cash Kai'! what does qashqai mean anyway!
what happened to the days when cars had names like Mitisubishi - Mirage Ford - Focus Mazda - Familiar etc.etc.etc.
I just don't get these stupid mis-spelt car names.

And why are the Japs making the same car with about fifteen different names and badgings on the same floor pan! What a complete waste of resources.

Here is an oldie from the 1990's:
I met her at the Civic. I'd been Holden up the bar all night and as she walked in. I looked her Rover. I thought she seemed Familia, but that was just a Mirage. She came up to me of her own Accord. I said "Audi", she told me she thought I was Galant. I lied to her and told her I was an Executive. I was just being Calais.
She was quite a Starlet, wearing a nice Mini, but not like that of Hunter.
Her name was Sylvia and she was a real Trooper. I'd drunk a few Corona's when I tried to lmpreza. She told me not to Porsche it. I told her I wanted to Lancer. Turns out she was an Escort, so I wasn't that Ford.
I didn't want to pay - she said "you don't know what your Nissan." So I paid. I took her back to my place - or HQ as I like to call it. I had a Bighorn and, of course, I was an absolute legend. Later, when there was a Prelude. I went to see if there was any food left in the Lada. It was a great night, but I really should have worn a condom that fits-my-Bitsie, you see, left her with my Legacy - a little Bambina.

I duno i would have thought with a total of 54 Manufacturers titles (WRC, Formula One, V8 Supercar, NASCAR) they know a thing or two about performance!
the names that are misspelt are actually done deliberately. You won't believe this but it is to avoid litigation. Woe and betide any manufacturer who dares to use 007(and pronounbce it doube ohh seven)in their car name. It really is that simple

Also called the Montero in the US. In the UK it's called a Shogun. Just wished they kept the same name everywhere!
