Just plain wrong. It expires on the date it says it does on the licence.funny that.

Yep, received just that at Christmas. Only that.
Disappointed

you dont need to do half of what the police ask you to do the problem is neither the police nor you do know that or waht you actuarly have to and what not. the guy who made his own numberplates has proofed that in whangarei court and that was apperanty his point to show the cops they cant just do what ever because they are the cops.

If you had a "lifetime" license, then your photo ID license expires in xx year, 2 weeks after your birthday.
Might be different for special license classes or if you're a spring-chicken.

Not if I wear tinfoil underpants.

smac, Mar 23, 7:10pm
Still wrong. Just give it up.

Was that expression saying 'who is this dick'!.

No - there were three cops in the car, two of them were p!ssing themselves laughing, as the driver had the look on his face of a dog who'd just peed on the carpet was apologising to me and promising that he'd take the car straight to the workshop.

So how do they work it out!Mine's 14 days after my birth date, so is my wife's.

Having had access to 5 licenced, legal cars plus 2 motorbikes not so long ago, I would often go out without my wallet.I simply laser colour copied my licences, and my wife's, laminated them and did several copies that then stayed in the gloveboxes.I also use one for overseas travel i/d.

Totally agree with #11.If a cop tries to book me for carrying a copy, easily checked by their systems anyway, then I'll happily go to court to defend it - and I doubt it would get that far, as I am sure they would back out before I would.I am virtually retired, so I can sit around in a court waiting room all day reading, without suffering any great loss of revenue.I am not so sure the powers that be would see it was good use of a cop's time!

If you already had a licence on 3 May 1999 your old paper licence was deemed expired on your next birthday. Then when you got your first photo licence you got a licence valid to your next *5th birthday. This was simply to spread the population out over 10 years.

After that you get a 10 year licence. If you both have a licence that expires 2 weeks after your birthday I'd suggest when you got your second photo licence you got it 2 weeks after your birthday. Kinda like getting a WOF late, the expiry date 'creeps'.

That's the guts of it, but there's obviously exceptions and variations for older drivers, new drivers, people who got extra classes etc etc

wow -quite the rebel aren't you.

You may laugh, but it's not that far away from happening. Google "Verochip", the first trials are underway in the Northern Hemisphere. The 'Mark of the Beast' is on it's way!
