Hi guys would anyone have an rough idea of what it would cost to get x4 glow plugs in my diesel replaced? Going to do abit of ringing around later today. Also would I be better off going to the Holden dealer to get the work done or would any mechanic do? Thanks

how was it determant the plugs need to be changed ? 2007 have you got a dpf , As for work done i would say no to any mechanic only specialist diesel place or holden make sure they know about diesel as the plugs on new diesel often can brake off if not carfull. and yes you would be needing to change all 4 glowplugs if it has a dpf as the glowplugs are used to do the dpf burnoff asistance , they are not really required on a direct injector engine other then for meeting emission laws. like my tdi vw only glows the engine below 16° celcius euro 3 only emission like this. as they are on to make sure no coldstart emission exust on modern direct injectors as only reason why they have em.

Thanks the reply intrade, took my car in for a service at a holden dealership awhile ago and they said I may need to replace the glowplugs at some stage. Recently the cars' hasn't been starting as fast as it use to even after I've given it adequate time for preheating. Partner did the pedal test and it indicated an ECN fault code that related to glow plugs. He was going to try and replace them but he knew if he stuffed it up he'd be sleeping on the couch

well you have 2 options personally i would ring aecs.net and ask whom they recommend for diesel work in wellington. the other option is the holden place, they probably know from there flowcharts that the plugs need to be exchanged if they are faulty or not. Now i have said the plugs are not required , but if the engine managment knows of a fault it will alter how its starts the engine as its all about 0 emissions out the tailpipe no matter what cost to the engine or owners bills, You should have it fixed professionally soonest. Also if it has a dpf you must drive continues 50km in one hit without stopping to be able to clear the dpf , otherwise you have to have a forced regeneration done.
Faild attempts of dpf regeneration shows up for you as owner on the oil dipstick you should regular check the oil level and if it level has not risen up = usually indicating multiple faild dpf cleaning has taken place. And the dpf regeneration should be done soonest followed by oil and filter change , as that high oil level is diesel in your oil. if ignored dpf blocked light will come on.
This is for any dpf Diesel no matter what make unless you have adblue urea injection a 07 definetly wont have urea injection in exhaust.
