I figure with the amount of 1999-2004 mazda familia sp20s i see driving around someone on here must have an idea of what it cost to get a cambelt done on one!Ours has just rolled over 90000kms so want to get ready for the bill. thats because its a sp23 and not a sp20. the sp20's have the older BP based engine.
TO THE O.P. get the water pump replaced while you are doing the cambelt it is good to get it done while everything off the front of the engine

wow do you get a prize for stating the freakin obvious. my point is that the SP20 motor is not the same as the MZR sp23 motor and is more similar to the BP motor in terms of servicing costs and labour. the FS also has a completely different block in terms of bore spacing and deck height.closer to a bp than the other f series
