Creamy yellow/brown foam in the radiator cap?

j_fung9007, Mar 9, 10:37pm
Just bought a 98 Pajero diesel, had the mechanic flush & changed the oil and radiator fluid. I decided to pop the radiator cap after it was done and I saw yellow/brown foam in it, is this normal? It didn't have this foam before the change of coolant. The car doesn't overheat, use oil or water before hand too. so is this a sign or something? or dirty radiator?!

My first thought is blown head gasket that someone boogied with irontite iin the water. Change the water and take away some irontite

So should I take it back to the mechanic and let them check it?

has your mechanic used a radiator flush ? then not washed it all out.

May have had a different coolant in it befor and not flushed properly, mixing say orange and green a no no.

This can happen if you mix oat with hoat

I did asked them to flush it, on the invoice it mentioned radiator flushed and top up coolant.

Did you check out the engine for a cracked head before you bought it? Its normal for Mitsis to have cracked heads.

No I haven't, I'm not a mechanically person, I won't have a clue what to look for. Is there a way to check it?

As per others first thought is blown head gasket BUT as its just had that work done take it back first and check with them all is good. But no it's not normal it should be lovely clean coloured water (usually green coolant additive though there are other colours).
